Respond to…Based on the readings for the week, would you say that Steve Jobs was an ethical leader?Steve Jobs was an ethical leader. According to Baack (2017), “Some suggested that a highly production oriented, authoritarian leader such as Steve Jobs at Apple Inc. created a highly stressful environment that tended to burn out even the most diligent employees” (Ch.8.2). Steve Jobs had high standards that he expected his employees to meet. Steve Jobs being an ethical leader is a question that would depend upon your views of ethical leadership. Jobs was very production oriented. On one hand there can be an argument to say Jobs was ethical because he always delivered on what he promised to consumers. Jobs was extremely strategic and did not allow for delays in products. On the other hand there can be an argument that he unethical. According to Riggio (2012), “But Steve Jobs could also be a tyrant. He was obsessively controlling, and given to fits of rage, throwing tantrums and yelling at employees and board members” (p.1). It all depends on a person’s viewpoints. If I have to give an opinion toward Steve Jobs being ethical I would say yes because he had a vision and goals that he worked toward and accomplished. Jobs may have clashed with board members and I am empathetic to a certain point, but being controlling and arrogant are negative qualities that shouldn’t be endorsed. Are you an Acolyte or a Rejector? Why?I would say I am a mix of an acolyte and a rejector. I know for me as an acolyte that I’m highly motivated, goal oriented and driven for success. There are times in life where you may have to be blunt and clearly state your intentions to leave no room for error. The reason why I say that I am a rejector as well is that I also believe that there are ways to state your message without being rude to an individual or make them question their self worth. I believe that when you have a disagreement with anyone there is a way to let them know you are not satisfied with them without belittling them.ReferencesBaack, D. (2017).
