Respond to…Based on the readings for the week, I would say that Steve Jobs was not an ethical leader. Ethical leaders make fair and balanced decisions based on respect, honesty, trust, and principle (Schwepker, 2015). While there is no indication that Jobs made decisions that were not honest or based on principle, it was evident that he lacked respect. He had a strong vision and did not care about the people he lost along the way when he disregarded the human aspect of leading along the way.I would say that I am a rejector in terms of Steve Job’s leadership style. I can appreciate, from a distance, that Steve Jobs was extremely successful and that his style worked for him in his scenario. A rejector is one who views Steve Job’s leadership style as dictatorial and uncompromising (Austen, 2012). Steve’s direct and unapologetic leadership style is not something that I agree with. I would be curious to learn more about how this style pushes people, whether that be to their breaking point or to greater success. However, based on the readings, I can identify that I likely would not respond well to Steve’s leadership style. I can also identify, based on the readings that I would not subscribe to his style in a leadership role.
