Part One:Â Choose an artist listed in the Music Reader. Please present a thoughtful look at the work…

Part One: Choose an artist listed in the Music Reader. Please present a thoughtful look at the work of a musical artist. Contextualize your artist historically, musically, culturally, etc. Be careful not to regurgitate too much of what is already included in your textbook. Bio material should be kept relatively short and be a general synopsis on your part to simply contextualize the artist. Part Two: Listen extensively to your artist’s work and read more scholarly literature on your subject. Present a short musical analysis of a piece or two and/or engage with the point of view of literature on your subject, highlighting their contributions to music history and important aspects of their musical production.  Format for Powerpoint presentation:1. Organize a flow to your powerpoint file that includes:     A) Contextual information about the style    B) Musical elements at work (think about the vocabulary we’ve been developing all semester)    C) Important performers or performances in the style (include embedded YouTube videos here!)    D) Concluding thoughts about your chosen style, including some cross-reference and comparison/contrast to other styles studied this semester.    E) Bibliography Slide with at least three published sources in your bibliography (journal articles, books, encyclopedia articles). Wikipedia and other online sources DO NOT count as one of the three published sources (NO WIKIPEDIA OR WEBSITES!!!). Remember, accessing a printed book or journal online does not make it an online source, so you should seek to include such sources for credit even if you accessed it from jstor or ebsco from the library website. ***Please use MLA, APA, or Chicago Manual for bibliographic references. Visit the library website for style guides if you need.2. Margins should be 1” on all sides. Do not justify the margins. 3. Your writing should be clear and to the point. Use correct spelling, punctuation, tense agreement, quantity agreement, grammar, and syntax. 4. Proofread your report carefully and make necessary corrections before handing it in!
